OUR STORY
Founded in 1974
Founded in 1974, Yuma Christian Academy has been a source of quality, Christian education in Yuma, AZ, for almost 50 years. From its humble beginnings in a small church building with only a handful of students, YCA has grown into a full K-12 private school, with Preschool, specializing in small student-to-teacher ratios, mastery-based learning, and character development.

Our mission is to provide a Christ-centered, high-quality education, working in unison with the home to nurture students' intellectual, spiritual, social, emotional and physical growth. We believe that schools should educate students to value lifelong and active learning, diversity and equity, community contribution, and the integration of kindness into every activity, all based upon the respect for Biblical values that should extend worldwide.

Yuma Christian Academy is committed to a Christian philosophy of education. This means that every facet of the educational program is conditioned and directed by a Christ-centered, Biblical perspective.
Our teaching method ensures that students will learn how to learn. Instruction is based on mastery-based learning: finding answers to the questions that promote skill building, doing the research to find answers, and thinking critically about the information gathered. Teachers actively guide students as they learn independently and cooperatively throughout their subjects.
Every person involved in the education of a student at our school is expected to act as a partner with the others, including teachers, staff, parents and the student. This approach leads to strong personal relationships between students and teachers and between family members and school personnel who then have a shared responsibility for the student’s success.
We teach students as individuals who have strengths and weaknesses, and may have different learning paths, to see challenges as opportunities for growth. And, of course, students should have fun! Our campus fosters an exciting learning environment for students of every age with unique events, campus opportunities, and fun activities throughout the year.

Our Campus
Of course, our story is centered around an amazing campus. Staff have been pouring creativity, love, and hard work into our campus for decades. Today, it is a unique, engaging combination of carefully developed Learning Center environments, interactive play areas, hands-on gardening spaces, a new multi-use sports court, STEM-centric library, and chapel for rallies and special classes.
Each Learning Center is specifically designed to support it's age range including a junior high and high school environment unparalleled in independent yet safe and structured experience. It's a place where students are gifted with space to THRIVE.
